What is a Life Plan Community?
A Life Plan Community—also known as a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC)—is a senior living community that provides multiple levels of care on one campus. This typically includes independent living, nursing care, and memory care. Most residents move in while living independently and can easily transition to a higher level of care if their needs change over time. This continuity of care provides residents and their families with added peace of mind, knowing support is available whenever it’s needed.
What is the difference between for-profit and not-for-profit?
A not-for-profit senior living community like Presbyterian Manor operates with a mission-driven focus. All revenue is reinvested directly back into the community to enhance services, programs, and facilities for residents. In contrast, for-profit communities are structured to generate financial returns for owners, shareholders, or investors. Their pricing is designed to ensure a portion of revenue goes toward profits rather than being fully reinvested in resident services.
If I have a home and can stay in it, why would I want to move to independent living?
The better question is—why wouldn’t you? You’ll enjoy the privacy and comfort of your own residence without the hassles of homeownership. Say goodbye to maintenance worries, both inside and out. When you don’t feel like cooking, simply enjoy a delicious meal at one of our on-campus restaurants. And perhaps most importantly, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that quality healthcare is available right here on campus if you ever need it.
